Framing/Gilding
Although many of the frames we conserve are from the 1700s and 1800s, we also repair many contemporary frames. Whether the value is historical or sentimental, we treat all with the same care and attention to detail.
Our frame conservators take pride in the care, restoration and repair of all antique and new frames that pass through our doors. When it comes to gilding the actual surface of a frame, we can match an existing surface to its current quality, or we can completely resurface the entire frame.
At Ponsford, we can apply a variety of gold karat and leafing, water gilding, bronzing or even painted finishes. The choices are endless. With over a decade of experience, Ponsford believes there is nothing that cannot be returned to its original splendor.
Our Customer's Satisfaction is Guaranteed.
In frame restoration, our primary goal is to retain and protect the frame's original construction and integrity. From total reconstruction of the original frame to a simple cleaning or re-gilding, we can effectively repair loose corners, broken edges, chipped pieces and even water damage without sacrificing the durability or aesthetics of the frame.
